S&S partnered with TD Industries to provide the mechanical scope for the renovation of the original Sears Midtown building. The building is now known as The Ion, a tech-focused office and collaboration center developed by Hines in collaboration with Rice University’s Rice Real Estate Company and the Community Benefits Agreement with the City of Houston . The project included a 3-cell Marley NC Crossflow Cooling Tower and six Patterson vertical in-line pumps. Gilbane was the General Contractor, and I.A. Naman was the engineer of record, utilizing the Marley NC as the basis of design.
